Me, every day. |
The humidity in NoVa / DC has returned. With a vengeance. And it's only May! This morning when I woke up at 6 AM, it was 70* and 84% humidity. I kid you not. And my hair just cannot handle that.
I let my hair air-dry every night and then straighten it in the morning. I apply some Moroccan oil and some John Frieda Split End Repair Serum while it's wet, then Dove anti-frizz serum after it's dry and straight. And these things are NOT working. In the 15 minutes it takes me to walk from the train platform to my office building, everything has gone to hell in a hand basket. Frizzy, poofy, weird little kinks around my temple... it is not normal. And I'm about 2 steps away from just bringing my straightener to work in the morning and doing it all when I get here. Which, I gather, is not "office appropriate." But I'm at my wit's end, y'all.

hate hate hate this about the summer and humidity in DC. I use this hair serum that tends to keep my hair in place on lower-humidity days!

i've had to stop washing my hair so much. now, i only wash it twice a week with a sulfate and paraben-free shampoo then condition it for a good 10 minutes. the other days i give my scalp a good scrub and condition. it's kept it much more manageable so i'm hoping it still works once the summer humidity really gets going.
