Britt's Bachelorette Bash

I spent Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia, bachelorette-partying in the City of Brotherly Love - what a whirlwind! I headed up bright and early on Saturday morning to meet Brittany and the rest of the girls in Philly. I had to work all day on Friday and got home late, so opted against driving all the way up in the dark by myself... it turned out much better to rest on Friday night and join the shenanigans on Saturday!

Not many pictures to share, because what happens at the Bachelorette Bash, stays at the Bachelorette Bash.... but it was wonderful to spend some time with my friend, meet some of her other friends, and traipse all over the city in the name of celebrating Britt's upcoming nuptials!

We had brunch at Moshulu (complete with bottomless bellinis and mimosas - what a way to start the day!!), climbed the Rocky steps, saw the LOVE sign, and had a beer at McGillin's (Philadelphia's oldest continuously operating tavern, serving beer since 1860!). We continued the festivities waaaayyyy past my bedtime (well into Sunday morning) and I definitely woke up hurting. This old girl just doesn't live like that anymore!

Fun fact: Brittany and I have been friends since I was in fifth grade, when she and her family moved onto my street and we immediately bonded. I find it very hard to believe that was over 20 years ago! I know I talked about this last week, but I feel so lucky to have such steadfast girlfriends in my life. Multiple friends that I've had for multiple decades?! That is seriously a crazy thing. I was honored to have Britt stand by my side when I got married, and I am equally honored to stand by her side when she says, "I do!" in May. Yay!

Throwback Thursday Tuesday: when we were young and tan
and marriage was a million years away.

Michelle's bachelorette: wine-tasting!

Nothing like a good stormy day to relive a bright & sunny one, right?? A few weekends ago, a group of us girls got together to celebrate my sweet friend Michelle's last few weeks as a single gal - she's getting married next weekend! Michelle and I were college roommates (and sorority sisters, by chance, after we went through recruitment in year 2 and ended up in Pi Phi together!) for three years at VT, and I'm pretty sure I never would have survived college without her. I am so excited for her wedding, and I am looking forward to standing beside her as she begins her new life with her almost-husband.

Instead of a typical "bachelorette," Michelle requested something a little more low-key. We came up with a plan to spend the afternoon wine-tasting, and we had such a blast! We had a group of 6, and we spent the afternoon at two different VA wineries, tasting, eating, and enjoying the local wine.

The first winery we went to was Barrel Oak, located in Delaplane, VA, where we did an outdoor tasting and then enjoyed a picnic that Michelle's mom packed for us. We had a great time sitting on the patio chatting and getting some sun.

From there, we headed off to Aspen Dale Winery at the Barn, located just a few minutes away from Barrel Oak. Our tasting there was a totally different experience - it included food pairings! At the beginning of the tasting, we were each given a small plate with ten little nibbles of food - some cheese, some meat, some chocolate. Then, as the tasting progressed, we sipped each wine alone, then added the food it was paired with, and tasted a whole new flavor profile. It was eye-opening! I'd love to do it again in another season. After we finished the tasting, we sat inside and enjoyed several glasses of Aspen Dale's signature sangria, which was incredible! So sweet and delicious - definitely dangerous on a hot summer day! We listened to live music and chatted, and before we knew it, it was time for our driver to pick us up again to head home. We had such a great day - Michelle enjoyed herself, and we all got to relax and enjoy a day out with the girls. Next up: wedding!

So beautiful! The barn at Aspen Dale

The whole group! So much sun.

#YOLO - Atlantic City Style

I spent this past weekend in Atlantic City with my sister and five of her friends, celebrating her bachelorette party! It was quite an experience, as it was my first trip to AC, and we had a blast. We got to the hotel late Friday night, intending to take it easy, but ended up going out for a while just to see what the scene was like. On Saturday, hung out in the hotel room most of the morning, then headed out for lunch and to walk on the boardwalk. We found an awesome bar called the Beer Garden, which is part of Caesar's, and spent a few hours sitting in the sun, enjoying a variety of seasonal beers. When we got back to the hotel, it was time for presents, snacks, and getting ready. We headed to a club called "Dusk" at Caesar's, and stayed there all night. It was so much fun! I rarely do stuff like that, so it's kind of cool to get out and let loose sometimes. We checked out of the hotel by 10 on Sunday morning, and my sister and I had Easter dinner at my parents' house last night. It was a whirlwind 48 hours! But I think Nat had fun, and we certainly will be sending her off to married life with a bang.

I'm drinking coffee like it's going out of style today - I am absolutely exhausted from the weekend! I don't even think there are the words to describe the whole trip, so I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves. Here are a few of the tamest ones :)

*YOLO was the catch-phrase of the weekend... it was plastered on tshirts and sweatshirts and everything else at all the little tourist shops on the boardwalk. It's hilarious how many things/situations/experiences that can be applied to... and maybe a bit obnoxious. HA!

Saw this on a car in front of us while on the road - love it!
