Five for Friday

We've made it, folks! Another work week in the books. Hooray!!

Five for Friday

1. Last night, I was on the way home from work and thinking about what I was going to do the rest of the evening: go to the grocery store, CX Works class at Gold's, run with a friend, file papers, go to bed. Which sounded really good, by the way! And then I got to thinking about how much my life has changed since college, and what I would have been doing on a Thursday night three or four years ago. Let's see... getting ready to go out, watching Grey's while pre-gaming with my roommate, heading to the bars downtown or a sorority social, stumbling back to my apartment after midnight.... YEAH. Safe to say, things have changed. I actually laughed out loud a bit about how different things are. Not that it's a bad thing - I like what I do on Thursday nights now! And it's probably a lot healthier/safer.
Then. (circa 2008)

Now. Grandma status.
2. I need to throw out a huge CONGRATULATIONS to my sweet friend/race partner/friend since 2nd grade, Lizzy, on her graduation from law school this weekend. I am so freaking proud of her that I can't hardly stand it. Lizzy ESQ, you are amazing!! I'm so proud of you for doing exactly what you always said you would.  She's going to be the real life Alex Cabot, ladies and gentlemen. Promise.

see the resemblance??
3. Last night was my second running "date" with my new friend (who happens to be the CX instructor) and it was awesome! We had an absolute blast (or at least, I did! Hope she did, too!) - ran and chatted for over 6 miles!! I set out fully intending to do 4ish, and in the end, when I looked at my running app, it was over 6. It wasn't easy - I hated every single step, I'm pretty sure - but I genuinely had fun while we were doing it. It's weird, finding someone new to be friends with and/or workout with at this age - it really is like going on a date. A lot of "so tell me about yourself...." going on. It also reminds me of sorority recruitment - who's with me on that one?? HA.

4. It's the time of year when all the TV companies are announcing which shows are renewed and which shows are cancelled for next year, and I am none too pleased. Two of my favorite shows from this season, Alcatraz and The Finder, have both been cancelled by FOX! And nothing that is coming out new looks like it will be worth watching. I don't understand why they insist on doing away with the real shows and creating more and more stupid "reality" TV. Hate hate hate. RIP, good television.

5. C & I made the executive decision to make no plans this weekend. It's been a long time since we've done that, and we have a lot of busy weekends coming up. This weekend is definitely needed to recharge the batteries and take a breather. On tonight's agenda: sit on the back patio with a beer and watch our newly-planted grass grow. Seriously. Neither one of us wants to go anywhere or do anything; we just want to sit. It's going to be great. We might do some cleaning. We might go out to lunch. We might organize our office/spare room. We might catch up on DVR'd TV shows. Who knows! I am positively freakin' thrilled, though. The thought of not having anything that I have to do is glorious. I highly recommend it. And like I said... if you need us tonight, you can find us outside in a lawn chair. There will be cold beer. And maybe snacks. Perfect.

So there ya have it. Have a fabulous Friday, y'all. What are your plans for the weekend?

I loved this post so much. Also, did I spy Elizabeth in the "innocent" picture? BAHA. Lives have certainly changed since college, but I'm totally with you on being okay with that. E and I have "we are not moving or going anywhere weekends" after several weekends of travel, and its AWESOME. And yes, organizing the office/spare room and filing papers is fun. I was laughing because I could totally see myself writing a post like this.

And Yay for running buddies! It totally is like sorority recruitment. You might even need to spray some Oust after... oh good times. :)
