On Friday night, we invited my parents over for an
impromptu fish taco fiesta! The weather had been so nice during the week
(though it poured rain on Friday!) that I was craving summer foods. We used
some frozen tilapia to whip up some delicious tacos! We seasoned the fish with
chili powder and cumin, then sliced some fresh cabbage, green onions, and
cilantro. I whipped up a yummy salsa with a mango, jalapeno, red onion,
cilantro, and lime juice, and we piled all the ingredients up on warm corn
tortillas. Throw in a hockey game (the Caps won! Hooray!!) and we had a lovely
little Friday night.

On Saturday, the four of us went to brunch in Shirlington
at one of my absolute favorite restaurants – Busboys & Poets – and I
devoured eggs Benedict, home fries, and a couple mimosas. We stopped by
Cakelove for some cupcakes to take home, and then decided to go see a movie
since my mom had a giftcard. We ended up seeing Safe House (pretty good, I do
love Denzel & Ryan Reynolds!!) and poking around Home Goods for a little
bit. My mom and I dropped the boys off at the respective homes, and then ran a
few errands before picking up take-out for dinner. We watched the second hockey
game in row (Caps win AGAIN – do they remember how to play hockey?!) and then C
& I went home and watched Cowboys & Aliens (great cast, but kinda weird
movie.. not sure I’d watch it again) while I snacked on my new favorite treat –
Ben & Jerry’s Frozen Greek Yogurt! Seriously – this might be the most
delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. It’s definitely a treat (lots of sugar added
to the Greek yogurt – yikes) but it is just. so. good. I picked up the
raspberry/chocolate flavor, and absolutely love it!
Yesterday, my sister and I decided to do another training
run, taking a different path over through her neighborhood. We set out, not
sure how much we would do, but going wherever the wind took us – and I shocked
myself by running four solid miles! We did about 5.2 total, and probably ran
4.25 of it – and I lived! Not only did I survive, but I actually think it went
pretty well, considering how windy it was. We had fun! Came home and discovered
that I’d actually gotten a sunburn – in February. I should have known better
than to go out without any SPF! My pale little face just couldn’t handle it. Whoops.
Lesson learned! I have now increased my “longest run ever” by a full mile, and
I couldn’t be more pleased. Nat & I should be good to go for the 8k in two
weeks. I have faith in us!
Rounded out the weekend with dinner & a game of
Cranium at my sister’s last night while C played his final two flag football
games of the winter season – they ended up 6-2 for the season, and were pretty pleased. We
watched some of the Oscars last night, as well as the new episode of Walking
Dead, and tucked ourselves into bed around 11.
Monday morning was here again before I knew it!
